ACTIVITIES

Hartington is a popular base from which to explore the Peak District National Park, the Derbyshire Dales,

the High Peak and the Staffordshire Moorlands together with their many attractions.

Walking

Step out the door and choose your direction! There so many adventourous walking routes to take, of varying distances and for all abilities.

Beresford Dale, Wolfscote Dale, Biggin Dale and Dove Dale to the south of Hartington can all be

accessed from the village as can the upper reaches of the River Dove to the north.

Day Trips

Visit Stately Homes such as Chatsworth House or Haddon Hall, or, have a wild day out at Alton Towers Theme Park.

If you would like to go shopping, the market towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell, Buxton and Leek are all within easy reach and offer their own unique histories and character.

Cycling

Three well established trails along disused railway tracks are easily accessd from Hartington. These are

the Tissington Trail, the High Peak Trail and the Manifold Valley between Hulme End and Waterhouses.

These trails offer 'easy going' with gentle gradients and stunning scenery and are particularly good for

young families to enjoy a relaxed ride away from road traffic.

There are cycle hire facilities close by for those who would like to give it a go.

For those who enjoy rough off road cycling there are a few 'green lane' type routes to tackle.
